In Pursuit of another entry in the Guinness Book of World Records 💫
Next attempt - Anicapa Island to Santa Barbara
Swimming with Extraordinary Purpose
Deborah Gardner, Guinness World Record Holder 💫
Yep, it’s true! I’m the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD holder for the oldest woman to swim the Catalina Channel, and I’m NOT done yet!
The CALIFORNIA TRIPLE CROWN journey continues. Next up: On Tuesday, September 1st, I’ll swim 12 miles from the stunning rocky shores of the volcanic Anacapa Island to Santa Barbara (Oxford), proudly represented by the Santa Barbara Channel Swimming Association. And yes… this will be another record-breaking attempt! 🌊
Swimming with Extraordinary Purpose
🌟 First, I dared to take on a challenge beyond my wildest dreams and became a Guinness World Record Holder.
🌟 Second, here’s the twist: I’m NOT swimming freestyle. Nope! I’m taking on this channel with my favorite backstroke because why not make waves and records at the same time? 🌊😂
🌟 Third, this swim had to mean something bigger than just me. The best part? This swim supports Southern Cross Service Dogs for Veterans. We raised $20K for Catalina, and this one is going to be bigger, bolder, and splashier!
I’m swimming not just for the finish line but to inspire, break barriers, defy limits, and turn every stroke into a message of hope, courage, and possibility.
This isn’t just a swim. It’s:
💦 A mission
💦 A message
💦 A movement
Let’s GO! Together, we dive into greatness and make waves that inspire the world. 🚀🌊

My father, Joedy Gardner was a Marine Corps pilot in Vietnam. I knew I wanted to do something to honor him and other veterans just like him.
When I learned about Southern Cross Service Dogs and their mission I knew I wanted to get involved and help raise money... And, hopefully, you will want to help too.
Join Deborah Tuesday, September 1st
Location TBD

We are on a mission to reduce veteran suicide by providing service dogs to veterans in need at no cost to the veteran.
- Recent studies report 40-44 veterans take their own life EVERY DAY
- 86% of veterans report reduced suicide ideation after being paired with a service dog
- Over 3 million veterans suffer from PTS
- Less than 1% receive a service dog
- It takes ~$60k to raise and train a service dog
Together we can save lives!

A special thank you to my sponsors!
